South Anston Residents Rally against Planning Application

14 January 2009

A lively open meeting took place last night at Anston Parish Hall

A lively open meeting took place last night ably chaired by Cllr Iain St John (even though his objectiveness was challenged on several occasions - not least by himself!!).  A gathering of some two hundred local residents and several City councillors listened to a presentation by Bioflame who then took questions from the floor.  Also represented at the meeting were the planning department and a representative from the Environment Agency.

Whilst practically everyone who spoke supported the technology in principal, residents were keen to point out that they felt it was being proposed in the wrong place.  The main objection is one of transport movements. The company concedes that whilst transport movements do not represent a material planning objection in this case, (and the Highway Dept has already stated it has no objections) there is a lot of room for the way traffic is managed around the area to be improved (and not just by the applicant). The area has a very strong case for improved transport infrastructure in the future.  If successful, the company looks forward to working with the local residents to minimise any detrimental effects of these vehicle movements and looks forward to further representation and discussion with residents on the matter.  If you are concerned in any way and you feel you have a positive contribution to make to alleviate the issue we would be very pleased to hear from you.

Bioflame operates an open book policy on planning matters so please do get in touch through this web site.
