Forward Thinking Parish Councillors Go Green

22 September 2008

At Bioflame's invitation, a small group of representatives of the Parish Council at Brandesburton, East Yorkshire had a tour around the company's demonstration site.

It is Bioflame's stated policy to try in involve all 'stakeholders' in the contents of one of their planning applications before it is submitted to the County Council.  This way, Parish Councils and the like get to view a working plant first hand before being asked to  comment on a planning application for a similar plant by their County Council.  The  Parish Council at Brandesburton were impressed enough by what they saw to endorse the planning application, enabling the County Council Planning Department to allow the application under delegated powers.  It is only with the help and foresight of Parish Councils like Brandesburton that companies like Bioflame will ever be able to address the renewable energy targets set out by our Government after Kyoto.

If only all Parish Councils were so openminded.  Or maybe it was the biscuits...........

In their second Joint Venture, Bioflame will partner local mineral & waste business Sandsfield Gravel Company and build their second 2.5MW power station running on low grade waste wood.  Equipment procurement begins immediately and the build will start in Summer 09.  The joint venture company will be known as Sandsfield Heat & Power Ltd
