RMBC Planning Board release minutes of their reason for planning refusal at Kiveton

16 April 2009

The following minutes detail a road entrance being not 'up to current standards' as a reason for refusing a planning consent that was recommend for approval by hardworking RMBC Planning Officers.

“That the Planning Board declare that it was not favourably disposed
towards application RB2008/1653, on the grounds that the access was
not up to current standards and incapable of coping with additional traffic,
the proximity of the site entrance to the railway and the congestion that
would arise due to increased H.G.V. traffic visiting the site and the impact
additional traffic would have on the already congested road network and
the Director of Planning and Regeneration Service, in consultation with
the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Planning Board, be authorised to
determine the reasons for refusal for this application.”

Bioflame are nothing if not thorough.  We only select sites that meet strict planning critera so we are usually highly confident of approval even before we submit an application.  The planning reason chosen by the Planning Board at RMBC is weak to say the least because this entrance has enjoyed unrestricted and unbroken HGV access for over fifty years.  The current quarry site already has planning permission for a great deal more HGV movements than the cumulative total of the existing development and the new proposal. The application itself seeks to reduce transport movements - not increase them.  Now that we have the minutes the planning appeal will be launched.  What a waste of public money.
