Anne McIntosh MP visits Bioflame HQ

Anne McIntosh MP today visited the demonstration Waste to Energy plant run by Bioflame at Pickering

FD John Wright and MD Victor Buchanan gave Anne McIntosh MP for Vale of York (Environment, Food & Rural Affairs)a guided tour of their facility in Pickering before sitting down discuss some of the many barriers to the successful roll out of their many projects.  Of particular interest to the firm is the recent trend  toward the composting of what the company believes is contaminated wood waste by 'cowboy' waste businesses.  Why should companies like ours spend a small fortune on R&D into the safe disposal methods for this material if the Environment Agency is prepared to turn a blind eye to so-called composters effectively just spreading the material on the land.  A recent fall in the gate fee of some contaminated wood waste has alerted us to this practice which would appear to have come from nowhere to be widespread. Some of these businesses are openly advertising for the material in the trade press.
