Bioflame's Pickering Power Station is first to ROCs

Bioflame report that they have now successfully claimed their first ROCs (Renewable Obligation Certificates) for their generating plant in North Yorkshire.  Slough Heat & Power and Wilton 10 are the only other power stations accredited by Ofgem to generate ROCs from low grade waste wood.  MD Victor Buchanan said "Despite taking a while longer to export to grid than expected, we now believe we are the first company in the UK to offer a demonstration site that works day in and day out at its design specification.  We know that there are lots of rumours in the market about other plants being planned but the reality is Bioflame's name is on the first and it's warm to the touch.  We welcome any potential customer that wants to enter the energy from waste market to go and see the competition working if they can and then come and bang real kit with a hammer and hear about our superior business plan."

Bioflame used the services of Sue Brown at FEY
not only to make the application but also to design their fuel sampling and monitoring methodology.  Sue said "most project developers have got enough to worry about without also learning new skills like how to apply for accreditation.  Here at FEY the team is in frequent contact with Ofgem and therefore it is often more simple for developers to sub-contract this type of application"
