Grid Connection - The point of entry to the main national power supply network for any electricity produced by an electricity generating station.  The power lines are owned by one of the District Network Operators (DNO).  It is their job to ensure that electricity is made available whereever it is required on the system.  This is also know as grid balancing.  The DNO is not allowed to sell electricity only to run the grid system.
